My Start in Music

Johnathon was 10 years old when he took his first music lesson.  He started on piano and did that for about 2 years.  He took a short break before joining the school chorus.  Johnathon had a solo in the first school chorus concert he was involved in.  This is when he decided he wanted to get serious about singing.

Shortly after the school chorus concert, he started taking guitar lessons.  He had just turned 13.  Three months after he started taking guitar lessons, he participated in his first talent show.  The feedback was very positive and fueled his fire to the point that he knew this was the path for him.

Johnathon picked up another gig here in town and got to do a 30-minute set.  This was at the Williamson Music Barn.  The positive feedback continued to come and he continued to push forward.

Later in the month of December he was going on a family vacation and on the way, he stopped in Nashville Tennessee.  He went to the Grand Ole Opry.  He also did the backstage tour.  He loved that experience!  The next morning, he went to tour the Ryman Auditorium and afterwards stopped in the world-famous Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge.  He asked one of the guys on stage if He could play a song.

After playing the Williamson Music Barn a few more times that year, he got to do an hour set.  This encouraged him to reach out to a few of the local venues. However, most of them were requiring three hours sets.  This gave him something to work toward.  So, he continued to play small events and he played at his aunt’s and a friend’s church.

In December of that year, just after turning 14, he had more leading roles in the school Christmas concert.  He played guitar and sang in this show.

During February of 2022, his first co-written song was finished.  He recorded this song in April of 2022 and released it on all streaming platforms.  This was a momentous event for him in his musical journey, shortly after this he had three more songs pitched to him and recorded, and also picked up his first three-hour show.  This success motivated him to pursue all he could and since then he has stayed really busy.

In September of 2022, he got to co-write a song that is very special to him.  The name of this song is “California Sand”.  He recorded this song in October of 2022 and released it on all streaming platforms.  This song has been #1 on “The Blackdog Indie Country Radio Top 20” and stayed on the top 20 for 18 weeks.

In November of 2022, he was nominated for The Georgia Country Teen Artist Of The Year Award.  His music journey thus far has been amazing and adventurous. He looks forward to what 2023 has to offer.  Please visit his website frequently to see if Johnathon is playing near you.  Thank you and God Bless.

A short conversation later, he sang three songs that morning at Tootsie’s. He felt like he was living his dream.

Johnathon brings a lot of fun to the stage.  He loves to have fun with the crowd no matter where he is playing.  He covers from Vern Gosden to Morgan Wallen and a lot in between. He loves the classic country as well as today's modern country.  He also puts some gospel music in his shows.  He has 3 originals that he also puts in his shows.  He loves to take requests from the crowd and have a lot of fun with them.  If he doesn't know the song he will still give it a try.  You and your people will be glad you allowed him the opportunity to entertain you.
